Sometimes the hardest thing about being a parent is having to lead when you don’t even know the way yourself. You try to show your child how to walk through life, not just with words, but with actions.

You want to guide them to something better, to show them what’s possible, even if no one ever showed you. It takes courage to keep putting one foot in front of the other, fuelled by love and a child at your side. Not because you have all the answers, but because you know they’re watching.

Leading isn’t about getting it right all the time. It’s about showing up and walking the messy path honestly. Hoping that with every step, they learn something from you about navigating their way through life, eventually finding their own way, because you never stopped trying to find yours.

This is my original A3 drawing, exhibited as part of The Shape of Love. It comes professionally framed with a Bordeaux border, white mount and white frame. I chose the red border for its association with love, tying the framing into the exhibition’s theme.
