Sometimes we feel powerless because we don’t have the right words for our children, we see tears and worries that we wish we could explain away, but we can’t. So we do what we can. A cuddle can say what talking can’t. A hand on their back, a soft squeeze, a safe place to hide their face, it tells them they are safe and loved when nothing else makes sense.
Love doesn’t always look like big speeches or the perfect advice. Sometimes it’s just being there when they need a shoulder, a lap, or arms to climb into when the day has been tough.
These moments stay with them, and with us. Long after, they’ll remember how it felt to be pulled in close and know, without a single word, that everything would be alright. Sometimes, that’s all we really need to give.
