Play sometimes feels like a nice extra, something we fit in if there’s time left over. But really, it matters more than we think. Play reminds us that life can be light, even when it’s heavy, it’s where joy lives.
It’s how we laugh without overthinking, connect without trying, and remember who we are when life has knocked us down. Play doesn’t have to have a point, it’s enough that it makes us feel alive. There is nothing better in life than someone who’ll laugh with you until your tummy hurts, who you can be silly with, and who help you make the kind of memories that you come back to again and again and still laugh about.
Brené Brown says play is the oxygen of a full life — and she’s spot on. Joy isn’t something to squeeze in after the important stuff — it is the important stuff.
